“Never underestimate the power of compassionately recognizing what’s going on.” -Pema Chodron

I am definitely the type of person who prefers to bury my head in the sand when life is not all rainbows and unicorns. At the slightest hint of conflict, fear, disaster, or tragedy, I will always trip right into flight mode as I hide behind my rose colored glasses.

I am not sure why I am this way, but my heart can’t seem to handle the ugliness that exists in this world. But the ugliness seems to only be able to exist because there is so much good in the world to create the perfect contradiction. It is humanity’s most important battle…good versus evil. But we are struggling at the starting line because we still haven’t figured out how to clearly define good and evil. And so we sit, immobilized by our thoughts, and all too often we fail to recognize what’s going on.

If we can step outside of ourselves for just a few moments every now and then, we might be able to view the world with more clarity. But the question then becomes, will we be able to handle a clear view of the world?
