The Gender Discrepancy

There is no denying the gender discrepancy in the work force. I am not going to get into the politics of the disparity of pay between genders in the same positions, but rather the fascinating statistics of certain jobs and how each gender tends to favor some of them.
I found an interesting article in The Boston Globe from 2016- Chart: The percentage of men and women in each profession.
It comes as no surprise that professions that require hard physical labor are hugely dominated by men. Jobs such as mechanics, masons, loggers, steel workers, carpenters, electricians, construction workers, maintenance and repair workers, and any sort of contracting jobs that require physical labor and the use of tools, all sorts of tools.
Not only are these jobs dominated by men, but they are highly dominated by men, with less than 10% (and in many instances less than 5%) of the employees in these fields being women.
On the flip side, women dominant in the same way in care-taking and child-rearing positions, such as teachers, nurses, and various sorts of specialized therapists. Also, women dominate jobs that act as assistants to male…
